Wensley Fold CE Primary Academy

Safeguarding

Safeguarding is everybody's responsibility

Wensley Fold CE Primary Academy’s first priority is the welfare and safety of our children, families and staff. We are committed to the highest standards in protecting and safeguarding at all times. Please read the information below so that you are aware of how to raise any concerns that you may have about a child or adult.

Sometimes we need to share information and work in partnership with other agencies when there are concerns about a child’s welfare. We will ensure that our concerns about our children are discussed with their parents/carers first unless we have reason to believe that this would be contrary to their welfare.

All concerns must be raised with the Designated Safeguarding Lead (Mrs Whittingham) or the Deputy Safeguarding Lead (Mrs Khan) in the first instance, but remember, safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility and ANYONE can make a referral.

Safeguarding is not just about protecting children from deliberate harm. It relates to aspects of school life including:

Are you concerned that a child is being abused or neglected?

If you are concerned about a child and you feel they are being abused, neglected or at risk of abuse/neglect, then you should consider making a safeguarding child referral.

Online Filtering

In school we use an online filtering system called Netsweeper. Each week the head teacher receives a report from Netsweeper that where necessary, will highlight any inappropriate searches, inappropriate websites and which machines attempted to access these sites and when. From time to time the safeguarding team will perform their own searches which they know would be flagged up via Netsweeper to check the system is functioning appropriately and is keeping our children as safe as possible. We recognise that homes do not have this level of filtering in place which is why it is incredibly important that parents know what their children are accessing and when. Below is more information about school filtering and keeping up with children online.
