  • I currently have one child at Wensley Fold (age 10)
  • I have a personal attachment to the school – it was my primary school
  • I am a qualified Lawyer specialising in Family law, Wills and probate work.
  • I am also a qualified teacher with experience in secondary education
  • I am passionate and enthusiastic about making a difference
  • I am very interested in the education and in childcare and development

Eshan Raja

  • I have one child at the school currently and two children who also attended Wensley fold and moved on.
  • I am also governor at Witton Park high school academy.
  • I have a keen interest in education.
  • I also do charity work for voluntary organisations in Blackburn
  • As a governor I will support the school and the parents to the best of my ability.

Donna Simpson – Headteacher

  • I have two children aged 18 and 14
  • My son Harry is in his 2nd year of sixth form and is a keen musician.
  • In my spare time I love to ride my horse and support my daughter, Daisy, in competing on hers.
  • My husband is an actor and works in schools developing confidence in the spoken word and public speaking and debate.

Amanda Whittingham – Assistant Headteacher

  • I am the teacher representative and have been for over 12 years
  • I particularly enjoy the role as it enables me to be involved in the governors’ decision making processes as well as the day to day running of the school
  • It is my aim to represent the balanced views of the teachers in all areas of governors’ decision making
  • My qualities are a love of children, teaching and a sense of humour!

Marianne Bennison – Teaching Assistant

  • I have worked as a Teaching Assistant for over 10 years
  • I am committed to the children at Wensley Fold
  • I have a 17 year old daughter who attended the school
  • I live within the locality of the school
  • Being a governor enables me to give something back to the school

Elaine Rae – Assistant Headteacher

  • I have been a teacher at Wensley Fold for over 20 years mainly teaching Year 4 and Year 6
  • I am a SLE (Subject Leader in Education) for maths
  • I have 2 children – a daughter who is 17 and a son who is 12
  • I enjoy keeping fit by running and taking part in Zumba classes
  • I also enjoy a chance to read on holiday

Shuaib Khan

  • I have a daughter and a son at Wensley Fold
  • I am presently the editor and manager of Asian Image – the North West’s largest and most widely read Asian newspaper
  • I have developed a good knowledge of the changing nature of social issues affecting our community
  • I hope to use my varied and unique skills to assist this already successful and much respected school to reach new heights

  • I have been a presiding officer at elections for 25 years
  • I have volunteered at East Lancashire Hospice – carrying out gardening work through a workplace scheme

  • I work with people from various cultures, backgrounds and ages on a daily basis
  • I am passionate about children’s health, wellbeing and advancement of their education
  • I am used to thinking ‘outside the box’ and have a logical and pragmatic approach to problem-solving
  • I am a volunteer at the Scouts group

Stephanie Pfeiffer- Deputy Head –  Non Voting

I’m from Glasgow in Scotland and studied at the University of Glasgow.

My previous post was Assistant Head at Abraham Moss Community School, working for Manchester LA and establishing the first all through provision for the city for ages 3 -16

I have a large family; three sisters and a brother who all live in Scotland. I enjoy trips north to visit home and spending time with my nieces and nephew; Isabella Rose (3), Jack Grayson (2)and Sophia Violet (8 mths).

I love art and singing.

Julie McFeeley  

  • I have lived locally for nearly thirty years
  • Both of my children attended Wensley Fold Primary School, at which time I was a Parent Governor. It was during this time that I
  • I recently retired from work as Area Manager for Lancashire and Cumbria with a nationwide charity in the Criminal Justice Sector.

I have a great personal belief that access to good quality education and personal development is a fundamental right and feel that my appointment as a governor will allow me to contribute to the development of that belief within my community.

Mary Hutchison – Clerk to the Governors

  • I have worked under the Leadership of our previous Headteacher Mrs Stubbs at Wensley Fold Children’s Centre for 6 years and was appointed as Business Officer/Headteacher’s PA in September 2013
  • I have 2 daughters aged 29 and 27, the eldest is the Foundation Stage Leader here at Wensley Fold and the youngest is working for Vodafone after completing their graduate scheme
  • I am a very proud grandma and have 2 delightful grandchildren,  Isabella Rose who is 4 years old and Noah George who was born in April last year.
  • I have always loved to be in the company of children and love to contribute to ‘making a difference’
