We enjoy a variety of topics in year 2 which involve lots of seeing, doing, experiencing and ‘getting stuck in’ with hands on learning to develop more independent thought and action.
Our Topic this half term is Houses and Homes
We will be looking at houses and homes have changed over time. We study the features of houses and what the rooms of the house looked like 100 years ago. Looking at artefacts from the past helps us to understand what life was like in a house in the olden days.
This term we will visit Towneley Hall to experience a real life house from the olden days.
In Science we are learning about
We investigate the different types of materials around us and look at their properties. We learn why a material is chosen to do a certain job because of its properties and we learn how to carry out a fair test. We look at where natural materials come from and how some materials can change shape.
We are looking at data collection and presenting data as a bar chart.
We are learning to print in different ways using layering and overlapping.
We look at famous printing artists and create work in the style of these.
