We enjoy a variety of topics in year 2 which involve lots of seeing, doing, experiencing and ‘getting stuck in’ with hands on learning to develop more independent thought and action.
Our Topic this half term is An Island Home
Through this half term we will look at the UK, naming and identifying its countries. We use atlases and maps to describe locations and directions. We use geographical vocabulary to describe physical and human features and make comparisons to life on an island to that on the mainland.
In Science we are learning about
Animals and their Habitats
We will identify things that are living and non-living. We explore different habitats including micro-habitats and which animals and plants live there, looking closely at how and why they can survive in their habitat.
We are looking at control and how we can give instructions to make something move.
We experiment with line drawing, using different colours and surfaces in different combinations. We study famous artists and use their work to inspire ours.
